The Scarlet
Pimpernel
The Scarlet Pimpernel is a play of the French Revolution.I would be the one of the common people. My day might be bad but I would be poor with little food. Why because it was the 1700's and if you was common people you were poor.In every play I ever seen in the 1700's the common people were sad or mad. My
Aunt Sue
If I had to move away from my current home then the relative that I would miss most would be my Aunt Sue who lives in Lake Hiawatha, Parsippany. About every weekend, I sleep over her house with my cousin Alexia who is very close to me. My Aunt Sue is very special to me in many yet very different ways. For example , we like the same kind of music and the same movies. She is the best Aunt a girl could have , you know! A.R. |

My church is a safe and comfortable place to visit. As I enter the church a few people are sitting in their seats praying while others are going to confession. The lighting in the church is dim and makes me feel welcomed. There are tiles on the walls that tell the story of when Jesus was carrying the cross. At the front of the church are candles that have been lit. A woman with short hair is playing an organ. I look forward to going to church each Saturday afternoon. |
Most days I ride my bike to my favourite tree. Today is no different because it’s Saturday. The tree is close to home so it doesn’t take long for me to get there. This is a giant tree and I sit in the highest branches. Around me the leaves are brushing each other and the black bugs make their way along the tips of the leaves. Above me, the branches sway back and forth. If I look past the branches I see people mowing their lawns. I can hear the motors run, “vroom”. The smell of the freshly cut grass lets me know that spring has sprung. Below me, I see someone walking a small dog past the houses that are lined up like houses on a Monopoly Board. I go to the big tree because it is one of the most relaxing places in the neigbourhood. |
Red’s Diner is a huge place, At Red’s Diner there are U-shaped booths. There’s a nice Australian waiter. The Texas quesadilla is delicious! There are lots of lights… dim, bright, all colours. The wallpaper has many different patterns. A huge fish hangs from the ceiling above our heads. The radio station, “The Bounce” is playing Eminem’s Mockingbird, and the noise from the bowling alley is loud. There is the smell of food and of the waiter’s cologne. The diner is a great place to go and eat with all your friends and family. | |

The play CATS was not what I heard it was. It was horrible. The set was just messed up dirty and didn't look good at all. The acting was horrible and the actors didn't even know their lines so they had to use a play book. Also the tickets weren't even a reasonable price. I mean $40 bucks for a play that was absolutely pathetic. Anyway I didn't pay, my company did, but that's a rip off! Most of the actors didn't even have the right costumes on. Most of the costumes were dog costumes. Wasn't the play CATS, not DOGS? How weird! It was supposed to be a great show for young people but when I saw it it was more like a play for toddlers who don't even know what a good play is like. Ilso the acting was just absolutely disgusting! If I had to pay for that show I wouldn't have and just left. For teens, I advise you not to see that play. It is just a waste of your time and money. Its not worth and don't be deceived about what to see. Overall i give it 1/2 star rating out of 5. Y. P |

Dear
Mom and Dad , I really want to go to college at Seaton Hall . I think that I will do very good there and could make a lot of progress in education . I believe that Seaton Hall is the right college for me and I would do anything to be able to attend their college . I really hope you support my opinion . There is also many sports that I like to play at Seaton Hall . For example , Baskeball is one of my favorite sports and I have been playing it since I was in 3rd grade and have improved dramatically since then . I hope you follow up on my decision . It would mean a lot to me. Sincerely,Your daughter Amanda |
Dear
Mom and Dad, College, wow I'm already trying to make my choice! Over these many years you two have taught me so much and gave valuable knowledge that I am going to carry throughout my years. You have always told me to study hard, get good grades, and choose a school that is appropriate for me. Well, i have chosen to take my studies to a college in New York. But, the problem is you guys won't let me and think that I should study here in New Jersey. You both know that I respect you guys but this is my decision to make and I need you full support and confidence. You as my parents know my traits and abilities including my limits. My personality will help me succeed by interacting with my peers and my professors. My limit on studying goes far because I am able to push myself to work hard enough to actually do very well, and my self-esteem is never to low or never to high. I just wanted to thank you two for pushing me and teaching me how to be the kind of person I am Third of all, in choosing to take my studies to another state provides for me a whole new world of problems, opportunities, adventures, and challenges.I just want to close by once again saying how this is a great chance for me to succeed more in life and for you both to consider this wisely. Thank you for taking time in reading this and good day. Sincerely your daughter, P.G. |

A
while back my job was that of a scientist. I lived in a rainforest
about that time. Sometimes I had adventures. This story is based on one
of them. One day around September the fifth, I was taking samples of trees. It was a wonderful day. All of a sudden, I stumbled across the biggest tree I had ever seen. It was about 20 feet wide. I decided that I would take a sample of it. All of a sudden I was so frightened. I ran right into my car and went unconscious. When I awoke I was in the tree. I don't think I remember telling you my name. Well it is Nicholas. Now back to the story. In the tree there were talking creatures of some sort. They asked me so many questions that I got confused. I could only remember one question. It was, "Can you help us?" So I asked them a question. When I finally got the picture it was plain to me why I had to help them. This is why I had to help them. They told me a secret. They have golden hearts and people would kill them if they found out. I told them I was a good scientist and that I wanted to help them. I thought of a plan and told them. I told them I would convince the government to make it a National Forest. So they were happy with my idea. I called them the Gold-ents like the Tree-ents in the book Lord of the Rings. We all lived happily ever after. THE END |
Dear Self, Every day it feels like these walls are coming in on me. It's like I'm vanishing slowly everyday from the world. I feel like I no longer exist I guess that's what jails does to you it makes you feel like nothing. I can't even see how my parents are doing. I wish my brothers still remember me? The only thing I could is wish! I wish, i didn't rob that store,I wish that can erase this, the only thing I could do is wish. my little brother Laf probably thinks I'm gangster or demon. i a really good guy, but it feels like every day I'm getting meaner and meaner. I wish nothing happens to my parents especially my mother she all i got including my brothers. They give me strength while I'm in here. they are my inspiration. I thought joining gang will be easier to stay, but every day some body dies by joining a gang. Life is hard for me because my little brother doesn't eve like me and my older bro doesn't even trust me. I wish i new magic so i can change time. Sincerely, Charlie Bayliey |

This story is based on a true place that I went to. It was a garden. I was visiting England, and I was having a wonderful time in Granny and Grandpa's garden. My family says that fairies come out and play in the garden. The garden is beautiful, with two heights, one on top where the house leads out onto the patio, and a three-step stairway leading to the top. Then there is the bottom, with a pond, newts and frogs. Granny Liz loves to garden, so the garden is always beautiful. I loved the garden and played in it every day. And now I will tell you my story. One day in Vancouver, a family named the Thompsons were very busy. They were packing their clothes into two big suitcases, which already were stuffed to the brim with clothes. You see they were going for a trip to England, to see their Granny and Grandpa. They were so busy that they didn't notice that their daughters, Imogen, Maddie and Mischa were packing teddy bears and stuff like that. But when their mom and dad saw, they started to laugh and laugh. "You kids are so silly", they said, "We're not moving, we're only going on a trip." Maddie piped up "But I want to keep her in my backpack for the plane ride." "Yes mom", said Maddie. |

Solder I'm Giselle R. A.K.A. Gigi. I'm 12 years old, living in Hackensack, New Jersey and loving it so far. I'm 50%-50%. 50% Dominican and 50% American. I grew in a ghetto place, but now I don't, now i live in a quiet neighborhood, where their is only 3 cultures, ( Black, White, and Dominincan). My parents are really strict, they don't let me go out much and we don't talk that much either, we do have a relationship, but its not that strong. But still I love them to death. So how are your parents, i hope you spend time with them because they only came once, you will have no other person who cares about you like they do. I'm sorry im not trying to make you feel bad talking about this topic, I just wont to know is their any other person who has a tough relationship with my parents. Well, I know its werid to hear from a person you have never meet in your life, but maybe its a good thing, becaus e you may have things on your chest and you read this letter and maybe you have been though the same thing as me. But hey I feel the same way, I'm in Track right, and we were in a meet, and before i started a girl from Rigdewood came up to me and said " Hey are you in the Hackensack Track, well good luck in the race". Of course i said the same thing back, but maybe hearing fromm other peple might not be so bad, it might get a lot of thing off your chest. I know maybe you miss your family, i know, i had the same feeling as you. |
They had a good night's sleep. In the night, Imogen had a dream of England with only brick houses. She was in such a deep sleep, she didn't notice her mom shaking her. Finally, she woke up, realizing it was time to get up. She ate a piece of toast, (very quickly) and with her mom and dad and two sisters, they went to the limousine, where a guy named "Dwight" drove them to the airport. At seven o"clock, the plane to England took off. They landed in Ontario (for they went there first) at about 6:00. They had some dinner and set off again. It was 2:00 in the morning, only in Canada though because they were almost in England, and in England the time is eight hours ahead. For example, if it was 2:00 in Canada, then it would be 10:00 in England. Finally, they landed in Manchester Airport, where they drove to Leeds, where their cousins lived. When they got there, they had lunch and went out in the back to play. Then Grandpa Norman drove up and took them to their Grandparents' house. Imogen was the first into the garden, and she saw....... a fairy. "Snap out of it," she said to herself. "There are no such things as fairies." But before she could turn around, tons of fairies came flying from the bushes and started whispering, "We are real." Suddenly, Imogen woke up, and saw she was in her bed in the house. She scolded herself for being so foolish. Who would believe in such a thing? But she never knew that what lay ahead of her was not make-believe, but real. At night, Imogen woke up at midnight, because of the time change, more often called "jet-lag" and went downstairs with her family and had some tea, then went back to bed. |

Once upon a time there lived an apple. He was a very happy apple. He liked it at the store with all of his friends. But one day he got scared because there was a big hand out to grab him. A little girl came and picked him up before the man could grab him. She put the apple in her cart. Then they went home. The apple was happy because some of his friends from the store were there. He got washed and put in a huge bowl. He played hide and go seek with his friends. Then the little girl named all the apples. He was named Crabby. One day somebody ate Crabby's friend. They licked their fingers after they ate her. Crabby packed up his stuff and ran away. He was crying on the way to Stater Brothers. He got back in his place and went to sleep. When he woke up, all of that was a dream. The End |

Mr. Yannarelli, I believe that it will be a disaster if you put cameras in school. It will make people nervous. They will break the cameras if they like them. So no one will know your business that you tell some of your friends. If you put camera's in our school when students are in class students will be distracted. Students might playing around instead of doing their work. Students at other camera's. Students wouldn't pay attention to their teachers in class anymore. Students will break the camera's because they don't like them. Students are sometimes mad at others and hit the student. Students might be playing basketball and throw the ball to hard then the camera's will break. |

Once upon a time there was a big guy called Santa. Santa always gave presents to kids on Christmas night and he lives in the North Pole and he uses reindeer to go to the city. The Santa sits on the sled with the presents beside him while the reindeer are pulling the sled. |
One day you’re like this, One day you’re not. You swore to secrecy, And then you forgot That I am still here I am not your foe. Are you going to pass me up like the wind Every time it blows? Remember “Friends Forever” I thought it was true But things would be better If you get a clue As to who I really am, deep inside. I don’t always take my steps with dignity and pride Sometimes I want to cry, spread my wings, and fly. I feel like I don’t belong in this hatred, nasty world Where everything that is too short Is long and, Where everything that is too weak is strong And every diamond ring is only fake bling. |

The Earth and I The cold breeze is my heart

I’m climbing my tree in the backyard. I can smell the scent of pine from the tall tree next to me. When I am up near the top of the tree, I notice two squirrels running around the yard. I hear bluebirds whistling high above me. The tree I am sitting in is skinny but strong. I wonder how it can hold a ninety-five pound person so easily? The leaves on the tree are budding and soon will appear. I love to sit in my tree and tell it my secrets. I know it can’t hear me but I love how it won’t spread my secrets to others. By Alex B |

On a sunny day the beach at Sylvan Lake is crowded with people. There are people on beach chairs and beach towels sun tanning. Little kids are playing with their beach toys. There’s the smell of sunscreen in the air. Bugs are crawling all over our big sandcastle. I watch the waves hit the sand. My family is out in the water throwing our Frisbee around. Far out in the distance speed boats and sailboats move across the water. Sylvan Lake is my favourite vacation spot. By M.O. |
It’s a sunny day and a little windy at my grandma and grandma’s ranch. The dogs, a fat brown one and a gray husky, chase a squirrel across the yard. The house is a long, white building. Near the house is an old shed that shelters two white cars and a green truck. Close by is an abandoned house where the farm cats have moved in. Near the shed a smelly cow grazes. Behind the barn are the fields, and past that is a dark and dangerous forest with grizzly bears and other animals. I chose this place to write about because I like the country. By Brandon |
My room is the only place in the world that I feel is mine. I have made it my own by adding items that reflect who I am. Last year my grandma, mom and I painted my room a baby blue because that is my favourite colour. A pile of magazines and books cover a lot of my floor. Under my window is my bed. On my shelf across from my bed I have portraits of my family and friends. Usually the only thing that gets me to leave my room is the smell of something delicious cooking upstairs. |
|
Since I was born, I have been going to Seclusion Bay Resort in B.C. with my family. Seclusion Bay Resort is my favourite place in the world. The sun is hot; I can feel it beaming down on me. Today the lake is so blue and clear. The waves crash on the shore. Out on the lake people are tubing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, water skiing and parasailing. In the marina the boat motors are burbling and moving in and out. Fish are popping out of the water as fishermen stand on docks to try and to catch them. At Seclusion Bay I have made so many friends and memories. I can’t wait to go back this summer. |
My bedroom is my favourite place. On my big bed, a green body pillow rests against the white headboard. The cats. Speeder and Neiko, are curled up together on the fuzzy blue dolphin blanket. Above the bed, glow in the dark stars hang from the white speckled ceiling, they match the glow in the dark stars on the wall. Next to the stars are posters of celebrities and pictures of friends. Despite the large four-drawer dresser and the handy, blue laundry basket, a layer of clothes covers much of the hardwood floor in my room. The hardwood floor has a checkered carpet, on the carpet; the black leather chair is reclined so you can fall asleep. Next to the chair on the dresser is an aquarium with a Salamander sleeping. Above that on the window are pictures of celebrities. | A dark brown wooden fence encloses my backyard. The screeching gate locks tightly to keep two small, barking dogs inside the yard. A beautiful garden is to the side of the deck with strawberry plants, grapes, gooseberries, and all types of colourful flowers. Juicy, green apples hang from a tree that I love to climb. A robin’s nest is tucked close to the trunk of a pine tree. An ugly, old shed sits in the corner of the yard. A sudden gust of wind blows wooden chimes, which are hanging on the corner of the roof over the deck. A large blow up pool is in the middle of the yard with a Slip N’ Slide to the left. Squeaking sounds are coming from the hammock blowing in the wind even with nobody in it. The back door opens and Krysta asks, “Are you ready for a bike ride?” |
|
From the highest point on the roller coaster, California Screamin’, I can see the whole park below including all the rides on the other side… the Golden Jet, Jumping Jellyfish, and the orange swings. The smell of popcorn, pizza and French fries fills the air. There are two bridges crossing the lake, one green, and one brown. I can see the wavy blue lake that I started beside just a minute ago. The people on the park walkway look up at the green roller coaster. I feel the wind in my face and the sun blinds me as we start to go faster and faster down the roller coaster track in a big blur! | At my grandpa’s ranch in Wyoming the smell of the horses lifts through the wind as the horses run freely in the large pasture. Under the old apple tree a pinto foal lies by his mother, a black mare. The bright hot sun stands high in the sky. The white fluffy clouds move slowly. Closer to the house, by the corral where the unbroken horses are kept, the boarder collies chew on pig ears. On the ground are their squeaky toys and their ripped up tennis balls. I look forward to going back this summer to Grandpa’s ranch.. | I was nervous when we walked onto the football field for the city finals. The other players were talking about what they were going to do just before the captains went for the coin toss. The parents were cheering for their football team. “Go Riders!” “Go Grizzlies!” The trees stood tall and strong like a brick wall. Some squirrels chewed on peanuts thrown from the crowd. The sun, as it rose into the sky, warmed the ground. The grass was like a giant green blanket with the sky as blue as clean water. The puffy clouds looked like weightless cotton balls floating across the sky. The wind was blowing with a slight bit of warmth. So began the city finals for our football team. |
